Iran's FM Zarif flared up over Jordan's Terror List includes Hezbollah, Revolutionary Guards: source

Reporting by Abdullah al-Ghadawi

(Zaman Al Wasl)- A well-informed source told Zaman al Wasl that Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Jawad Zarif was very upset over a Jordanian terror list submitted to the United Nations last week, including the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hezbollah and Iran-linked Shiite militias.

The U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has calmed Zarif's anxiety who was flaring up by ignoring the Jordanian list and delaying its discussion.

The source said the U.S. is seeking also to exclude Islam Army and Ahrar al-Sham movement from the list.

The U.N. Security Council last week unanimously adopted a resolution (2254) endorsing a proposed peace plan to bring the Syrian regime and opposition together for talks in January.

The plan followed nearly two months of strenuous efforts among top diplomats from 17 countries, including regime backers Russia and Iran.

According to AFP, Syria's regime said Thursday it was ready to take part in new talks in Geneva aimed at ending the war, though it appeared to make its participation conditional on which opposition groups attend.
