Daraa: rebels kill Hezbollah's military commander in the southern province

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Hezbollah's military commander in southern province of Daraa has been killed with his comrades in a rebel missile attack on his base Monday, field sources said.

The commander who was known as " The Ghost" was killed with others in a Katyusha rocket hit his base in Ezra'a town, the regime's powerful stronghold in Daraa province.

Last week, Lebanon's Hezbollah buried 9 militants were killed in the four-year-long Syrian war.

The Syria conflict has exacted a heavy toll on Hezbollah, with many hundreds of its fighters killed in the war. Hezbollah says Assad's supporting in the war across the border has been crucial to his survival.

Hezbollah says it is fighting in Syria for reasons including the defense of Lebanon from hardline Sunni Islamist groups that are battling Assad. But its Lebanese opponents say its role there has triggered Sunni Islamist violence at home.
