(Zaman Al Wasl)- Russian air strikes on northern Aleppo province killed ten people late on Monday backing a ground offensive by the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), local reporter said.
The Russian air strikes took place in Tel Ref'at town as the alliance of Syrian Kurds and Arab rebel groups prepares to attack areas controlled by Islamist rebels in the northern countryside of Aleppo.
SDF captured a dam on Saturday from ISIS, cutting a main supply route of the militants across the Euphrates, an alliance spokesman said.
Col. Talal Selo said the seizure of the dam helps isolate the militants' strongholds in northern Aleppo from their territories east of the Euphrates river, where Raqqa city, their de facto capital, is located.
Since the U.S.-backed alliance was formed last October, its fighters have opened several major offensives against ISIS with the ultimate goal of capturing Raqqa.
Meanwhile, al Safa al Islamia rebel group said in statement The Kurdih People's Protection unitis (YPG) have killed 6 fighters of its group in Shwargha village.
YPG posted their photos online saying they are al-Nusra Front fighters, al Safa added.
