(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syria's Republican Guards forces and notorious Fourth Armored Division have intensified siege on Moadamiyet al-Sham town west of Damascus as rebels refuse to surrender or to evacuate the town in similar scenario to fellow fighters in Homs and Zabadani.
Bashar al-Assad's forces are preparing for a massive incursion into Moadamiyet al-Sham, according the local negotiators team who met with the regime representatives on Sunday.
The Assad army has locked the main crossing with the capital four days ago and its bulldozers have started Tuesday to set up shields and barrier between the town and nearby Daraya and Damascus in order to tighten the blockade on the residents, media center said.
No one is allowed to get out just some government employees on condition not coming back home, according to activists.
Moadamiyet al-Sham, also known as Moadamiya, with about 45,000 people, has been under major attack by regime army since last week after the collapse of a fragile truce with rebels signed late 2013 and more than two years of suffocating siege.
Meanwhile, the aerial and ground shelling have continued targeting the western neighborhood of the town. At least 7 people were killed in three days.
Last week, at least 10 people, including a 12-year-child child, have been killed in a sarin gas attack on the western neighborhoods of Moadamiya, medics said.
More than 260,000 people have been killed since Syria’s revolution erupted in March 2011, and millions more have fled their homes.
