U.S. supports the National
Coalition to form a "transitional process" team to protect ensure security
and protect minorities.
Opposition National Coalition is
going to meet with "London 11" group that is a branch of the
“transition process" in case Assad regime falls and form a
"team" to monitor the process.
"London 11" group includes (US, UK,
France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the
UAE).
The source did not confirm the
attendance of all countries, and did not
confirmed the meeting date, but mentioned that Ahmed Jarba, the head of
National Coalition is visiting London on 5th September.
The source added that the most
important thing to discuss is that U.S military strike would not last long,
therefore, Syrians have to be prepared to control and protect Syria when the
regime falls and not try to avoid al-Raqqa case where Islamic fundamentalists and
jihadist control the city, which is a serious red line for America trying to
avoid.
The source told “Zaman Alwasl
" exclusively that the main task of the team is supervising the
"transitional period“and to ensure security and provide services to people
and to be ready to take over control as soon as Assad regime falls within a
short tern plan could last weeks, therefore, a detailed plan with cautious
selection of people is taking place.
According the source, the
priority is to ensure implementing security as well as protecting the Ministry
of Defense and other ministries and public building of destruction or theft.
Besides running Damascus International Airport, all that put the "National
Coalition” under huge responsibilities and work load.
On the other hand, what
supporting countries, especially America want from the Coalition is to prevent
fighting between different groups and to protect minorities especially the
Alawites and preventing revenge and sectarian conflict.
A member of the political
Authority circulated a statement talking about the Interim government saying:
“due to the acceleration of events there is a general opinion in the coalition
calls to speed up the formation of the interim government under Dr. Ahmad
To’ameh supervision, it is likely to be a government of national unity that
represents everyone and work quickly in achieving goals.”
The source
commented that there is big disagreement and controversy around Mr.
To’ameh as he is not well known by Syrians inside the country despite his
long work in politics and was arrested for a while by Syrian regime, and his
name was mentioned during Mr. Hito selection as the head of National Coalition.
