Damascus: Regime dropped 853 barrel bombs on Daraya in December

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian regime staged its aerial and ground bombardment on the southern suburbs of Damascus Tuesday, targeting Daraya with 4 surface-to-surface missiles, activist said.

For two weeks, Syrian Republican Guards and notorious Division 4 have intensified siege on Moadamiya town and Daraya as rebels refuse to surrender or to evacuate the town in similar scenario to fellow fighters in Homs and Zabadani.

The Assad army locked the main crossing of Moadamiya with the capital 10 days ago and its bulldozers set up shields and barrier between the town and nearby Daraya and Damascus.

No one is allowed to get out just some government employees on condition not coming back home, according to activists.

Last December, Syrian regime army had targeted the poor outskirts of Daraya with 853 barrel bombs, 72 surface-to-surface missiles and 400 shells, killing at 21 people, the town's local council said.

More than 250,000 people have been killed since Syria’s revolution erupted in March 2011, and millions more have fled their homes.
