Nabil al-Fadhli, Istanbul's suicide bomber, was wanted by Syrian regime: leaked criminal archive

  (Zaman Al Wasl)- The Syrian suicide bomber who carried out the attack in Istanbul's historic tourist district a day earlier was wanted by the Syrian regime, his criminal record that obtained by Zaman al-Wasl with 2.5 mn leaked documents has showed.

Nabil Abdul latif al-Fadhli, who was born in Aleppo in 1988 for a Muslim father and a Christian mother, Bregenitte, from the Armenian community, was wanted by the criminal directorate in Aleppo as well as he was wanted by the military intelligence for evading military service, according to document dated in 2012.

On Wednesday, Turkey's interior minister Efkan Ala said al-Fadhli's fingerprints were on record with the Turkish authorities, when asked about a report in the Turkish media that the man had registered at an immigration office in Istanbul a week ago, AFP reported.

Syria's opposition coalition on Tuesday denounced the attack that killed 10 German tourists.

The Istanbul-based National Coalition "strongly condemns the terrorist explosion... and presents its condolences to the families of the victims," the group said in an online statement, according to AFP.

Turkey has been a staunch supporter of Syria's uprising since it erupted in 2011, and hosts more than two million refugees from the neighboring country.

Turkey has been struck by a number of deadly bombings recently, including in the capital on Oct. 10 when two suicide bombers blew themselves up in a crowd of peace activists.
