Activating southern front reduces pressure and siege on Daraya: commander

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Daraya city has been under heavy bombardment in the last four months, by the Syrian regime’s aroplains, and followed by the Russian warplane. It is istimanted that almost 42 explosive barrels were thrown on Daraya dail since July till December 2015. 

This heavy campaign came as a result of liberating the area of “Jamiyat” by the by “Islam martyrs brigade” and other military formations, during the battle of “Lahib Daraya” in which they had become closer to Mezzeh military airport.

Captain Saeed Nakrash, commander of “Islam Martyrs Brigade” said to Zaman Al Wasl that the Russian and Syrian regime airplanes, had thrown more than 4 thousand explosive barrels within 4 months as well as targeting residential areas and public institutions like hospitals, mosques, restaurants and shelters, to cause as much victims and destruction as possible. It estimated that 90% of infrastructure of the city had been destroyed. 

Captain Nakrash explained that the Daraya had been under shelling exceeded what eastern Ghouta, Idlib and Aleppo, but because the city almost empty, reduced the injuries and victims. 

The commander explained that severe siege for 3 years and heavy bombardment aim to prevent Daraya’s residents to return to the city, as replace them by Shiite an Alawite people to change the area demographically.

The captain requested all revolutionary military formation in Syria in general and the Southern front to start more battles with the regime to reduce pressure on fighters in Daraya, as the regime benefited of recession of other fronts to get rid of rebels around Damascus, because they cause most risk for the regime. He mentioned that Western countryside of Daraa and parts of Qunaitera countryside are the most important ones to release pressure on Daraya. Although those fronts strated strategic battles with the regime to free Daraya, but they were not successful because of heavy fortification.
