Cold wave kills 20 people in northern Hasaka province

(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least 20 people, mostly oldmen
and children, have been died in northeastern Hasaka province due to the latest harsh cold weather wave sweeping the area.

Activist Mahmood al-Ahmed mentioned that 3 people died in Tal-Hamis because of cold weather, to make a total of 10 elderly died of cold, which recorded an unprecedented number of death of cold, because it coincided with bad health status and immunization as a result of malnutrition.

The activist added that 10 other people died in Hospital as a result of neglect, 8 of them were infant who died because of lack of Oxygen as well as of electricity cut-off, while other two died as a result of stopping the support machine after the electricity cut-off.

On the other hand, the regime-loyal militia of Sotoro announce via a statement that The Patriarch Ignatius Ephrem II, representative of Patriarchate of Antioch and all Syriac Orthodox, attended a meeting at the hall of the Church of St. James Nasippini for Syriac Orthodox in Qamishli city. The meeting was attended by representatives of all churches, parties and gatherings and the Office of Protection “sotoro” in order to issue a statement showing the conditions and sufferings of Christian community by what so-called self-management.

The statement explained that the meeting also was attended by the regime- loyal Council Of Hasaka’s Prominent figures, which met later with the Chief responsible of Kurdish Asayish in the Church hall, the Asayesh leader promised of sorting out all the difficulties and obstacles to sort the conflict and fight terrorisim.

Special Committees formed after the meeting started their activities to reach to solutions for the conflict among all parties in Qamishli, and to implement what has been agreed in the statement, all that happened amid anticipation that the minister of interior “Mohammed al-Shaar and the governor of Qamishli would attend.

The Democratic Union Party “PYD” shares controlling Qamishli with the Syrian regime, while Sotoro militias distribute in the Christian neighbourhoods of the city. Other Christian militias exist in areas controlled by the PYD in Tal Tamer and Malikiyeh
