Islamic State takes two border towns from rebels in Aleppo province

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Islamic State fighters on Saturday have taken two border towns with Turkey from rebels in the northern countryside of Aleppo, local reporter said.

ISIS captured towns of al-Bel and Braghida after surprise attack on rebels checkpoints started by a suicide bombing.

Also in Aleppo, rebels have reached a ceasefire deal with rival Jaysh al-Thuwar group in the northern countryside.

The ceasefire came to end a series of skirmishes between both sides along the the last two months.

Rebels took towns of al-Alamiya and al-Mazraa near Menng military airbase from Jaysh al-Thuwar last Monday after heavy clashes.

Jaysh al-Thuwar is operating under the banner of Syrian Democratic Forces, a U.S.-backed alliance of Kurd and Arab fighters was formed last October to fight ISIS but very quickly the fight has turned against other Islamist groups.

Once Syria's commercial hub, Aleppo province is now divided between regime and rebels control.
