Rebels target power supplies to ease pressure on southern countryside of Hama

(Zaman Al Wals)- Syrian rebels in the northern countryside of Homs have targeted water and power supplies that feed regime-held areas, a move aimed to ease pressure on the southern countryside of Hama as regime army and allied militias carry out major attack.

Reports said rebels of Homs have exploded the electricity tower next to Zara'a town ten days ago, two days following the regime’s attack on the Harbanafsah, and Talf towns.

Residents reported to Zaman Al Wasl that rebels used an explosive barrel was thrown by he regime but it did not explode. The explosion led to
led to power outages for more than a week, they added.

A source with close ties with powerful Ahrar al-Sham movement in the northern countryside of Homs said many rebel groups had cut-off the electricity wires heading to Salamiyah, and they surrounded the village of Damina., to cut support to Salamiyah.

A regime-loyal journalist mentioned that Salamiyah city was without electricity and water for 12 days, confirming that the country will not accept the rebels’ demands, and Salamiyeh will fight.
