Syrian girl says would sacrifice her eyes for her dad

Twenty-seven-year-old Mamun Khalid Nasir is thankful to be alive, but he is now bedridden.

It all happened almost a year ago, after he was injured by a barrel bomb dropped by Assad regime helicopters in the northwestern Syrian city of Idlib.

The father of five has since lost his legs and the ability to hear and see.

Nasir, his wife, children and mother took shelter in southern Turkey in December.

“My son was able to walk, speak and hear a year ago,” Wafa Awwad, 49, told Anadolu Agency. “However, he was doomed to live in bed. We are trying to survive and satisfy the needs of five children. The neighbors help us sometimes. We came to Reyhanli district of Hatay province to save our lives.”

Nasir’s five-year-old daughter Gozyasi is pleading for Turkish doctors to help him.

“My dad can not see me and this makes me feel sorry,” she said. “Take my eyes and give them to my dad. I want him to see and love me. Allah will not separate us. I love him so much.”

The extreme suffering of this innocent family is only one example of the tragic nature of the ongoing civil war in Syria.
