(Zaman Al Wasl)- ISIS fighters launched a surprise attack on regime bastions in the eastern city of Deir Ezzor, started late on Sunday with a suicide attack, local activists said.
ISIS has targeted a regime base near the Euphrates Hotel, killing number of soldiers, including senior Intelligence officer, after rocking their base by an explosives-laden car.
ISIS has also attacked Vanguard camp al-Rawad suburb, activists said.
ِِOn Sunday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 47 people, including nine children, have died in Russia air strikes on a town in on Khasham near the city of Deir Ezzor.
The raids were among a series of strikes that also hit two other town and others areas in the past 48 hours, killing scores of people, according to Reuters.
Russian jets have been bombing around Deir Ezzor as regime forces and allied militias clash with Islamic State fighters, who control most of the province.
The group has besieged remaining government-held areas of the city since last March and last week launched new attacks.
