(Zaman Al Wasl)- Al Qaeda's Syrian branch, the Nusra Front, has increased its reinforcements this Monday inside the city of Aleppo, amid reports about the intention of the regime and supporting militias to start fighting against militant factions from several sides of the northern countryside in order to cut the supply road between Aleppo and countryside.

Correspondent of Zaman Al Wasl in Aleppo said that Nusra Front had entered Aleppo city with a convoy of hundreds of heavily armed fighters of various types of medium and light weapons on Monday afternoon, noting that the Front has distributed its troops in various neighborhoods of the city as a preparation for any unexpected attack by regime forces.

Activists in Aleppo city said that the timing chosen by the Nusra Front to strengthen its presence in the city has not been appropriatethey suspected intentions.

Activist "R.h" who talked on condition of anonymity for security reasons said that the military situation in the city of Aleppo did not need those reinforcements.

He told the correspondent of Zaman Al Wasl in Aleppo: “all people Aleppo know that fronts fighting against the regime are quiet and has not undergone any change for more than 3 years, the most important front and threatens the city if Kastelo road is controlled by the regime, and indeed the regime dvanced from Bashekwa in the northern countryside, so if Nusra Front is sincere in its intentions, it should strengthen fronts in the countryside, not in the city."

Abo Khaled, a fighter of a faction of the Free Syrian Army “FSA” in Aleppo expressed his worries saying: “after the big reinforcements sent by Nusra Front to the city of Aleppo, we expect them to start fighting us anytime with or without justification, as the Front had established several barriers in residential areas and distributed large numbers of masked gunmen, which points out to only one thing, that the front is against us, not with us.

Abo Khaled added that a day before, members of Nusra Front at Kastelo barrier had arrested two members of the Free Syria Army claiming that they were members of the Islamic State “ISIS” and supported their action by spreading news on social media about what happened and confirmed their claim that the two members has confessed they belong to ISIS.

Zaman Al Wasl contacted Abo Musab al-Shami field commander of Nusra Front in Aleppo, he confirmed that reinforcements of the Front in Aleppo was part of Nusra Army, which boost its presence in the fronts of Aleppo and countryside and was supossed to start the operation 3 months ago, but the military developments in Southern countryside had delayed it the action.

Al-Shami added "who talk about the Front’s intention to fight our brothers in the other factions were issued by people who have preconception against the front, and they circulate rumour and wish they become right, but we are in Nusra Front assure everyone that we are keen to fight the regime only, and if any disagreement happened between us and our brothers in the other combatant factions, we will try to resolve it through peaceful means in the end we are all in the same battle”.

In response to a the correspondent’s question about reasons for establishing barriers in residential neighborhoods, al-Shami explained that barriers were not checkpoints they were only guarding the Nusra’s headquarters and members from any possible attack by a group of Islamic State and the regime. He gave an example about the 18 element of Ahrar al-Sham who were killed by a car bomb exploded in al-Sokari neighborhood inside Aleppo.
