Assad Intelligence to spy on opposition meetings


It is predicted that the Syrian intelligence has been trying to identify members of opposition and in particular members of the Syrian National Council and to estimate their properties and wealth in Syria. That has been confirmed by the document directed from the Head of the Office of National Security number (594 /8 / AQ ) to Jamil Hassan, Director of air Force Intelligence , containing the names of the alleged members of the Council and one of them is Mustafa Rustum, who was detained in regime’s prisons.

Zaman Alwasl obtained “genuine” documents, and going to published them in turn, and they show that regime kept following and spying on members of Syrian National Council in countries where they live, and one of the documents a security report presented some of the details of what happened in the opposition meeting in Brussels to form the " Syrian Transitional Council”. The report included names of some attendees with a list of the 93 members of the Council to be established.

The report said that some members whose name are in the list, did not agree and said they were surprised, like Elias Najm, Burhan Ghalion, and Fayez Sarah.

Moreover, the report stated that there was some differences and disagreement inside the opposition especially in rgard to the” External  intervention”,  and the report stated that the most prominent protesters against that was lawyer Farooq Mosare’a, who was described in the document as a lawyer of international law , and the leader of opposing Democratic Socialist bloc and resident in Brussels.

The mentioned security report added that Mosare’a was ready to come to Syria and stand by President Bashar al- Assad to defend Syria, moreover he would disclose all scandals of External Syrian Opposition on regime’s official TV channel.

The report continued: "Ahmed Mahamid, a member of April 17 Movement called for a formation of “Consultation Forum for the opposition” to elect a Supreme consultative council, in addition to the formation of “ Council for the leadership and sub-committees for revolution " and he preferred to keep the process away from media as there was great deal of disagreement among the opposition members”

The security report also mentioned a person called Shady Adil al-Khash, a general manager of the promotion of trade in the UAE, would organize the conference.

That security report included another top secret document included “objectives and other important information in regard to the place and sponsors of the conference, and other things”.  It is clear that Istanbul Conference for National Salvation which was pointed to.

The report quoted a statement by the Jihad Khaddam saying that his father and his group will hold a meeting at the French Foreign Ministry to declare "the so-called “National Authority” for supporting the Syrian revolution in order to obtain international recognition.

And then the report mention that Jihad’s father will have a tour to  Arab Gulf states as responsible for the "National Authority" to meet with important figures for substantial financial support , and added  the Charter of the Authority was still under discussion between some of the opposition parties .

The report said  that the draft of the Authority charter starting  with an attack on the regime and accuse it of corruption and suppression and preparing for sectarian conflict through violent suppression of peaceful demonstrations on a sectarian basis, and then it identified the Authority's two wings “internal and external” which follow the Political Bureau of the Authority.

The document added that the Charter was planning for the post regime period and the formation of a transitional government and a new constitution.

Now, the question to answer is:  “How the regime’s intelligence became aware of all those details?”
