SNC members with constant call to withdraw from Coalition

Minutes of the National Council meeting in Istanbul showed conflict ideas and constant call to withdraw from the Coalition

 Zaman Alwasl has obtained the minutes of the General Secretariat of the National Council meeting held in Istanbul on 20th and 21st August.

The news of the Chemical attack and the massacre in al-Ghouta in Damascus al-Assad forces committed, coincident with the second day of the meeting. As a respond, attendees decided to forward a statement to the United Nations and other countries around the world about the chemical attacks and their negative effects on the future of political solution.

Members discussed lost of political and regulatory internal issues, as well as discussing the status of the Council as a bloc within the coalition, and some called to withdraw from the coalition.

The minutes reported that there were conflicting views around the “national army", besides discussing the role of Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

In the meeting, according to the minutes, formation of a professional committee consists of 5-7 members was decided. The committee would collect projects submitted from some bodies or people and study them.

Reformation of the council and its institutions was discussed in the meeting, minutes said that a workshop in this regard would take place to draft the mew form, and then it would be submitted to the Executive Office and Secretariat for approval.

The meeting decided to form a committee to study the course of events during the election of National Coalition to find out reasons behind the lack of commitment toward the council policy and submit its report within a month.

In his speech, George Sabra, Head of the council, pointed out to the significant shortage of relief and humanitarian aid beside difficulties in passing aids inside Syria as it became harder than before, according to the minutes.

He added: “It is noticeable that the international attitude toward the Syrian revolution has become worrying and there is lack of interest in the Syrians and their revolution”.

 One member pointed out that there are many destructive projects inside Syria, most serious the regime’s one, which is trying to create dissensions and conflict among Syrians.

He added that the presence of the Council inside Syria would be a real activation of it. Moreover, the voice of the National Council should stay away from media .

Another member saw that Syrians need every piece of weapon in order to achieve victory, but pointed out that should not be at any price and not at the expense of the principles for which Syrians had started the revolution”.

He added that some extremists groups fight in Syria for their own agendas which are not compatible with what Syrians wanted from their revolution.

He warned of the consequences of some actions of these extremist like kidnapping , threats and bullying, stressing on the need for meeting with their leaders to talk openly about these behaviors and put an end to them before it turn into conflict between rebels instead of fighting the regime.
