Idlib: regime air strikes kill at least 50 people in Abu Al Duhur town

(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least 50 people killed on Monday in Syrian regime air strikes on market place in Idlib province, local activists said.

Regime warplanes have conducted three raids on the main marketplace in Abu al-Duhur town in the eastern countryside of Idlib, 30 miles (45 km) south of Aleppo, leaving 50 people dead and dozens wounded.

Opposition coordinator Riad Hijab told reporters on a teleconference that the massacre is part of a pattern of breaches of a two-week truce,

Hijab said the latest fighting, as well as arrests by Syrian government forces, were causing the opposition to consider whether it should attend a round of peace talks in Geneva.

"It will be before the end of this week, there will be a clear decision about this," Hijab said.

The five-year Syrian civil war has killed more than 400,00 people and created a massive refugee crisis in Lebanon, Turkey and the European Union.

The partial truce, drawn up by Washington and Moscow, came into force a week ago and has slowed the pace of the war, although it does not include Islamic State militants or the al Qaeda-linked Nusra Front.
