(Zaman Al Wasl)- Five Free Syrian Army units operating in northern Aleppo province have merged in one armed group to unified militay efforts on the ground, said in statement posted online Saturday.
Commanders of Division 99 said: “based on our responsibilities toward our Syrian people all over the country, we announce the formation of the regiment 99 which consists of 5 brigade: “Zi Qar, Ahfad Salah-Eddin, Ebad Alrahman, Shohada A-sharqiah, Ra’ad A-shamal.”
Colonel Ahmed Joai, the Division commander, insisted on the unity of the country and its centralised decision via: “working to keep Syria as one part protected from dividing, securing the infrastructure of the country and its institutions, ejection all kind of terrorism, suppression and dictation especially intimidation of the Syrian regime and all its outcomes like extremism and crimes”.
The Commander added that military mission would end at completing eradication of the terrorism, the Syrian regime and its supporters and external occupation beside extremism and organized destruction.”
Forces of the Fee Syrian Army “FSA” have arrived to North Aleppo after finishing training by the Turkish and American experts about urban warfare and close-quarters combat beside using specific arms in order to prepare for battles with the Islamic State and Syrian Democratic Forces “SDF” after it had controlled areas in West Azaz and Marea North Aleppo especially Tal-Rifaat and Menag, and the military airport taking advantage of closing the route between Aleppo and Azaz near Turkish boarders.
Northern countryside of Aleppo is witnessing a military race among different powers like the Syrian regime supported with the Russian air-forces, Syrian Democratic forces supported by the air-forces of the U.S-led alliance, added to the Islamic State that controls wide areas in North and East Aleppo, all that to control the city of Azaz and surrounding, while the revolutionary forces and the Free Syrian army face all those forces with modest and simple arms compared to what others have.
Since it began in 2011, Syria's war has fractured into a complex array of fronts between Kurds, rebels, regime and jihadists, and has killed more than 260,000 people.
