As stabbing cases mount, regime army urges soldiers to not wear uniform in civil areas

(Zaman Al Wasl)- The Syrian army's general command released a circulation saying military personnel are banned from wandering with their military uniforms in regions under regime control and in pro-regime regions, military source told Zaman al-Wasl.

The source said the circulation came after several incidents of knife stabbing of regime army soldiers and officers in regime controlled regions.

The circulation states many military personnel were stabbed such as the stabbing of Captain Pilot Shadi Abbas who was found killed due to several knife stabs in al-Mashru’ al-Sadis area in the city of Tartos in mid-last March.

The source added Damascus itself witnessed in the last few days more than 10 stabbing incidents and hence, the stabbing of the Pilot Abbas was not considered an individual case and was not adopted by any party.

The circulation caused paranoia amongst the soldiers and military personnel especially in the administrative sections subordinate to Ministry of Defense located in Damascus and other governorates whose employees can be identified even without wearing the uniform. These might be exposed to stabbing incidents at any time.
