Eight players from Karamah and Wathba Football clubs left Syria: document

 (Zaman Al Wasl)- 8 players from Karamah and Wathba soccer clubs left Syria without permission to leave, a document leaked by Sports Office-Baath Homs Branch says the branch received a record to inform for their leaving in 14 January 2016.

The document signed by Homs Branch’s head Subhi Harab and head of Youth Office Iyad Zafour demands taking procedures to penalize the eight players by the General Sport Union Branch in Homs.

A significant number of soccer players in the two clubs declared their support of the Syrian Revolution like Firas al-Khatib, Jihad al-Hussein, Alaa al-Shibli, Atef Janiyat, Abdul Baset Sarut who is one of the icons of the Syrian revolution.

A number of players were martyred during regime bombardments of neighborhoods in Homs or during clashes with FSA where a number of players fought in its ranks like Tamer al-Luz, Mudathar al-Nakdli, Talal Hamdun, Tarek Abaraa. Also, regime arrested a number of players.

The numbers of Syrian professional soccer players in Arab clubs is estimated to be around 60 players.

The two clubs and especially Karameh is considered one of the oldest clubs in Syria with good players who joined Syria national teams.
