Homs: Regime bowed to rebels demands to get back water supply in loyal areas

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian regime has complied with rebels’ demands to ease the siege imposed the northeastern countryside of Homs province in order to get back the water supplies to loyal areas, local reporter said Friday.

Ceasing bombardment on civilians, allow entering food and vegetable to the area and reconnecting electricity as conditions to let the water reach Salamiyah town in Hama province.

Residents of Ezzidin village, 7 Kilometre east of al-Rastan city, told Zaman al-Wasl that regime has allowed food, fuel, vegetable and fruits in the North countryside of Homs via checkpoint of Taqsis in South-Eastern countryside of Hama, after four months of closure.

People added that the Electricity corporation has reconnected the electricity to their village and other surrounding villages like Deir Foul, Quneitrat and others.

State-run media reported “as breaking news”, that drinking water has been resumed to Salamiyah via the main water line controlled by rebels of North countryside of Homs coming from Ain Attanour spring in Qusayr village, toward Hama and Salamiyah.

The regime's media has not mentioned that regime has abided by the rebels’ conditions because they were inciting the army on invade the North countryside of Homs and not to accept rebels’ demands.

The media only reported that “after 4 months of discontinue, and by huge effort of responsible and honest figures, the water has resumed flowing from the Qantara station North-Eastern of Rastan and partially from one pump to the main water reservoir in Salamiyah, and water is being tested to ensure its safety.”

The Syrian regime has accepted a month ago conditions of rebels in North-Western countryside of Homs (Holeh), which included: the regime need to stop attacking civilians in Harbanafsah village in Southern countryside of Hama and shelling towns of Holeh, fixing electricity's pillars and towers, besides providing Holeh and other villages with electricity.
