(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian rebels on Friday have thwarted major attack launched by regime forces and allied militias on Handarat district in northern Aleppo province, activists said.
Bashar al-Assad's forces aim to capture the strategic Handarat camp to cut rebels supply route as well to encircle the city of Aleppo, residents say.
Nearby Castillo road was also a joint task for Assad forces and the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) to tighten the noose of rebel-held Aleppo.
So far, skirmishes are still under way, local activists said.
On Thursday, Aleppo rebels seized controlled ISIS’s main supply route to Turkey, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
“Rebel factions and Islamist took control of the northeast of Al-Rai,” a town occupied by ISIS on the border between Syria and Turkey, the Observatory said. “This is the main and one of the last crossing points with Turkey.”
