Names of military pilots who committed Deir al-Asafir massacre

(Zaman Al Wasl)- A military source gave Zaman al-Wasl names of regime army pilots who committed Deir al-Asafir massacre ten days ago that left 32 people killed, mostly women and children, east of Damascus.

The army officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the perpetrators of the massacre were colonel pilot Ali al-Jardi from Salamiyeh, colonel pilot Arkan Abdul Kareen ‘Aliya from Latakia, colonel pilot Rami Qanbar Suliyman from Sheikh Sa’id, pilot Riyad Mohamed from Latakia, and pilot Iyhab Suliyman.

The pilots serve in al-Seen airport 17 brigade the 697 mig-23bn squadron pointing that due to military reasons the brigade is positioned now between al-Seen and Dumeir airports since 2013.

The pilots committed the massacre of Deir al-Asafir during two air strikes on Friday. Four aircraft did the the first wave of strikes hit consecutively with 5 minutes of difference between each raid and the second wave of four warplanes hit in the second strike with 4 high-explosive bombs.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, nine women and 12 children were among the dead in the massacre and the death toll reached 32.

East Ghouta was liberated by rebel forces since the outbreak of the Syrian revolution where Deir al-Asafir is situated. The area is controlled by different factions including Jaish al-Islam which abides by the truce. Regime forces have been trying to surround Deir al-Asafir where it is home for 2700 families.

The source described the squadron as one of the most criminal squadron in Syria and especially in East and West Ghouta of Damascus. The members of this squadron were deployed by regime air force leadership to bombard Eastern and West Ghouta suburbs because the pilots are psychologically capable of bombarding civilian populated areas. The pilots are rewarded with big money prizes for committing massacres and hence they compete to commit massacres.

The source stressed the pilots committed most of the massacres and specifically Douma market massacres on 12 of August 2015 and other massacres in East Ghouta.
