(Zaman Al Wasl)- A senior commander in the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) died of his wounds on Friday in northern Aleppo province, activists said.
The Turkish national, known as 'Jiya', was the YPG's military commander in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo city.
Jiya was a prominent member in the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). He joined Syria's branch a year ago coming from Qandil Mountains in Northern Iraq.
YPG fighters have engaged with rebels this week aiming to control Castillo road, rebels' main supply route and the only crossing for residents of rebel-held Aleppo.
Jiya was buried in Efrin town on Friday amid secrecy, activist said
