(Zaman Al Wasl)- A leaked document revealed that the National Command of Syria-ruling Baath Party has dismissed 358 members listed as “dismissed members of battalions.”
A leaked document that Zaman Al Wasl obtained from the files related to “recruiting members in Baath Battalions” within Baath Party- Homs Branch, revealed that 358 members were dismissed under charges of disobedience, looting, rejecting orders, refusal of investigation, shooting, causing others’ death, or because of travel or working for other bodies, besides death resulted from killing or natural causes.
Information presented in the document is quite recent as it covers a period of 16 month, from September 2014 to January 2016.
Detailed look at the information of the lists showed that most of dismissed members were from battalions operated in the city of Homs and under supervision of different sections of Baath party . The rest of the members work in the countryside of Homs.
A complementary document revealed many conflicts within Baath battalions, and lack of cooperation and obeying orders, that points out to the chaos and lack of institutional workflow inside them and explains the security breaches happened lately and led to explosions in regime-loyal areas of Homs.
Homs had witnessed severe explosions in the same period the documents covered, as many members within the battalions were accused of facilitating the entry of car bombs into the regime-loyal areas which led to big numbers of death.
Baath Battalions affiliate of Baath party- Homs branch are supervised by 21 officers, 3 of them lieutenant colonel.
Zaman Al Wasl has published earlier documents confirming the commitment of Baath Party- Homs Branch the head of the branch Sobhi harb, in funding, recruiting and arming youth and others to form forces and militias supportive to regime to control the city of Homs and its vital services.
