Kurdish-led forces graduate first batch of militants

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced first batch of graduates’ fighters on Sunday following training in one SDF camp in countryside of Qamishli in Hasaka Governorate.

Ronahi TV Channel, spokesperson of Democratic Union Party self-administration said 200 fighters graduated from the camp in Qamishli after enrolling in a training course for a month pointing out pro-self-administration Arab figures attended the graduation ceremony.

Graduates pronounced the oath in Arabic and the oath included fighting to establish the federal system in Syria, saying, we take an oath for Syria to be a federal democratic Syria, according to the report broadcasted in Kurdish.
A fighter said in the report they will fight Isis not only in north of Syria, but also in Deir ez-Zor where SDF forces are on its borders west of Markadeh.

This group of fighters is considered the only one directly under Syria Democratic Council founded in al-Malkiya Conference in January 2015. The rest of the fighters fought in the militias from which SDF was formed.

Syria Democratic Council, the political front of these forces, has adopted federal democratic system project for north of Syria proposed by Kurdish self-administration in a meeting held in Remaylan city on 16-17 late March.

Kurdish self-administration increased its meetings with local population in regions under its control to promote federalism to locals. A meeting on Sunday took place in al-Jawadiye east of al-Qamishli and today there was a meeting with al-Sharabeen Arab tribe in a school in Qubur al-Farajneh village in the northern countryside, according to activist Malaz al-Yousef.

Al-Yousef told Zaman al-Wasl that the Kurdish Peoples’ Protection Units (YPG) the biggest militia in SDF has established strongholds in all villages on al-Aryshe town south of Hasaka. The militia receives security reports about the local population. Militia personnel storm the houses searching for wanted people amidst security alerts on their checkpoints for unknown reasons. He added that SDF established a center in Ajaja town where it implements a curfew from 8 in the evening until 6 in the morning.

On the other hand, Kurdish militia Asayish arrested three persons on the ground of being suspects following a car bomb which targeted PYD personnel in al-Kurneesh neighborhood in Qamishli. One personnel was injurd, according to local sources.

US backed SDF alliance recaptured strategic al-Shadadi and al-Arysha in late February via a military campaign and it was very important battle for SDF alliance since its formation in October 2015 from militias affiliated with PYD and self-administration. United States backed the alliance and provided them with weapons.
