The Syrian regime delegation has arrived Geneva Friday to participate in the third round of indirect talks that officially started two days ago.
The U.N. sepcial envoy to Syria Staffan De Mistura is due to meet the regime’s and opposition’s delegations on Friday's evening.
Sources reported to Zaman al-Wasl that the opposition’s delegation is going to present answers to the 29 queries made by De Mistura in last round more than 2 weeks ago. “the delegation had outline answers”, according to the source expression.
However, the delegation is going to have detailed answers according to requests of De Mistura’s advisors who met with the High Negotiation Committee (HNC) on Thursday.
De Mistura’s queries highlighted essential meaning of “Ruling” according to U.N decision number 2254, duties and functions of the “ruling”, how the members of ruling body’ are going to be chosen, and how the non-sectarian character of the body is going to be achieved, beside the relationship between the ruling body and other constitutional institutions.
De Mistura met Thursday with delegation of Cairo platform which provided a full vision to a Transitional Ruling Body with full executive and legislative powers with transitional government, Supreme Justice council and National Transitional Military Council.
The opposition wants the transition to be run by a governing authority that has full executive powers. Damascus has, however, signaled that the most it is willing to offer is a "unity government" with opposition participation, and a new constitution.
Assad's supporters, including Iran, say he should be able to run in a future presidential election.
Putin said: "It is necessary to accept - for all to agree and sit down at the negotiating table - to accept the constitution and on the basis of the constitution to hold elections. That is the way to get out of the crisis."
The ongoing Geneva talks aim to end a war that has killed more than 250,000 people, created the world's worst refugee crisis, and allowed for the rise of the Islamic State group.
