(Zaman Al Wasl)- Local council of Free Homs Governorate appealed on Friday to the negotiating parties in Geneva to break the siege of al-Waer neighborhood in central province of Homs.

The statement, seen by Zaman al-Wasl, called on the different boards, international and local institutions, and Geneva Talks sponsoring states and to whoever believe in the right of human communities to have access to food and medications to put an end to the plight of people in al-Waer neighborhood.

The statement demanded from the International Community to rescue children who suffer from hunger and men who suffer the lack of food and medications.

The statement indicated the death of child Umar al-Basheer, 4, due to lack of medications and equipment necessary for surgery to treat him. The statement also points out cases of deformation due to medication expiring in addition to cases of severe anemia.

Syrian regime and pro-regime militia imposed a blockade on al-Waer neighborhood for nearly 30 months and prevented entrance of food and medications. The neighborhood during the blockade was shelled by mortars and artillery.

More than 1000 civilians were killed in the regime attack while 300 hundred thousand were forcibly displaced. Currently, there are approximately 100 thousand civilians living there.

The regime imposed a second blockade on al-Waer, the last rebel stronghold in Homs, and prevented entrance of food items and medications. Al-Waer now enters its second month of the blockade regardless of the truce signed with the regime at the beginning of late December.
