(Zaman Al Wasl)- One person killed and two injured on Tuesday in Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) raid on Aneeq al-Hawa Village in Hasaka Province, local activist said.
The victim’s relative who preferred anonymity told Zaman al-Wasl, his cousin Mohamed Yaseen al-Kati’ was killed by PYD sniper. The victim was looking from the window of his home in ‘Aneeq al-Hawa, when he was shot. Groups of PYD fighters surrounded the village in a failing attempt to detain one of Baath Party member Mohamed Salmu.
The victim’s relative indicated that PYD fighters detained six young men from al-Kati’ family to release them later. They also destroyed Mohamed Salmu’s house in the village.
In another context, PYD self-administration in coordination with UN Refugees Office in Hasaka city are rehabilitating al-Haul Camp and equipping it to receive displaced population from al-Musul and other Iraqi cities especially Yazidi population, according to activist Malaz al-Yousef.
Al-Yousef told Zaman al-Wasl, al-Haul Camp is situated west of al-Haul town. The west side of the camp contains 80 houses and a basketball playground whereas the east side contains 50 houses. PYD engineering group are still working to rid it of the mines planted in former battles.
Al-Yousef added that PYD self-administration assigned five persons to run the camp which has a capacity of receiving 200 families. The camp was established by UN supervision during the American war on Iraq to receive Iraqi and Palestinian refugees. The regime shelled the camp at the end of 2012 and beginning. Later on Isis used the camp to settle fighters’ families.
PYD announced in 2014 foundation of Rojava self-administration before Geneva Talks2 as a response to not being invited as an opposition body. Malkiye Conference was convened to form Democratic Syria Council as response to not being invited to Riyadh 2015.
