Reporting by Hussein al-Zoubi; Translation by Yusra Ahmed

(Zaman Al Wasl)- A member of the Syrian National Coalition and representative of the Kurdish National Council said in a conference in Geneva that the unfairness of the Democratic Union Party PYD is affecting both Arabs and Kurds.

Fouad Aliko stated to Zaman Al Wasl over the forced displacement and evacuating of Arab from their towns and villages saying: “there is no ethnical cleansing as more than 100 thousand Kurdish youth have been displaced fearing of compulsory recruiting by the party, the Syrian affiliate of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), therefore, the unfairness is reaching all by the Islamic state and the PYD.

Aliko appealed PYD and their leader Saleh Moslim to stop that kind of practices against any component in Syria, as the conflict is not racial or ethnical and there is no benefit for Arabs and Kurds to deviate from fighting the tyrant.

Abdul-Hakim Bashar , the Head of Kurdish National council said that repationship between PYD and the U.S. is not a political relation, but it is kind of :utilisation” and will finish when both the Syrian regime and the Islamic State are defeated.

Abdul-Hakim Bashar said that regime called them to join it but they refused and insisted on staying by the opposition side, but the PYD is controlling areas by the regime’ support.

In regard to documents provided to the U.N. special envoy to Syria, Staffan De Mistura, Abdul-Hakim said that documents were first distorted in the beginning when it was mentioned that right of election and voting excluding Syrians who were granted nationality in 2011, targeting Shiite and Iranians who were given the Syrian nationality to affect the demographic structure, but then Kurds who were granted nationality in 2011 were excluded from that decision an the document was modified.

The head of Kurdish national council mentioned that document 12 that was given to De Mistura confirms the right of all component of Syrian people and the Kurdish issue is considered as a national demographic issue within the country and their rights are protected by the constitution after forming a transitional ruling body without al-Assad, and holding a general conference for all Syrian components leading to a constituent committee to build a new constitution considering Kurds and their rights

The third round of talks to resolve the Syria conflict began in Geneva on April 13, but it hit a roadblock when the Syrian opposition decided to unilaterally postpone the peace efforts on Monday due to what it said were deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Syria.

Riad Hijab, chief coordinator for the opposition’s High Negotiations Committee, said Tuesday that the cessation-of-hostilities agreement no longer existed on the ground, claiming that more than 550 Syrians had been killed and nearly 1,100 wounded since the warring parties signed the truce in late February.

Bashar Jaafari, permanent Syrian envoy to U.N said that talks would continue in spite of the withdrawal of the Saudi delegation (High Negotiation Committee) as the talks would not lose anything because they do not represent the Syrian people. Quite on the contrary, by leaving they may be taking away a major obstacle that will allow us to reach a solution.

Syria has been in continuous multi-sided war since early 2011, when al-Assad regime cracked down on pro-democracy protests. Since then, more than 250,000 people have been killed and millions were displaced according to UN figures.
