(Zaman Al Wasl)- Aleppo Operations Room, an alliance of rebel factions operating in northern Aleppo city, said in statement they will target regime-held areas if regime forces keep its brutal military campaign on civilians.
The "cessation of hostilities" deal brokered by the United States and Russia on February 27 began to unravel in the Aleppo area this month with each side accusing the other of attacking first.
The Operations Room said it would not respect the deal amid mounting violations by regime.
Regime's air strikes on a marketplace in Tareeq al-Bab neighborhood, killed 12 people on Saturday. The day before, 10 people were killed and 20 wounded in strikes on the neighborhoods of al-Mashhad, Bustan al-Qasr, al-Ansari and Bab Hadid.
Recapturing all Aleppo has been a regime priority since the Russian air force intervened in support of Assad last September, tipping the conflict his way, according to Reuters.
Several U.S. officials said this week that the Russian military had repositioned artillery near Aleppo, adding to speculation of an another assault on the city.
Opposition coordinator Riad Hijab defended his body's decision to walk out of peace talks in Geneva and criticized U.N. envoy Staffan de Mistura over the rise in violence, during a high level EU visit to the Turkish border province, Reuters reported.
Hijab's public criticism of de Mistura, who must be seen as neutral while trying to negotiate peace in Syria, highlights the tensions and fragility of a peace process which has limped on despite the opposition declaring a "pause" in talks with nearly all of its delegation leaving Geneva.
