(Zaman Al Wasl)- The conflict between the regime forces and Democratic Union Party (PYD) has come after a ceasefire deal reached on Saturday between both sides to stop tension in Qamishli city north of Hasaka province.

The agreement resulted from intensive negotiations between the Kurdish forces and National Defense Forces (NDF), mediated by a military delegation arrived Qamishli from Damascus and Russian officers. The agreement has enforced the truce between the two fighting sides that was reached April 22, to stop the heavy clashed took place 2 days earlier, according to the Assyrian Network for Human Rights.

Kinaan Barakat, the co-head of the Kurdish internal security force, the Asayish, said in a press conference that his group agreed with regime to reconsidering the formation of NDF militia to dissolve it later, ensuring that employees' salaries would be paid and will not be used as a threat to force them to get recruited with the NDF, freeing detainees from both sides, compensation for financial and moral damage for civilians, stopping interfering in people’s and community’s affairs and life by the Syrian regime, lifting the emergency status by both sides and ensuring the return of normal life in the city.

Barakat added that regime was the reason behind clashes after killing two members of Kurdish Asayish militias conforming that Kurdish forces had reacted on time.

Qamishli, near the Turkish border, is mostly controlled by Kurdish security forces, though pro-Assad forces still hold a few areas in the city center, and its airport.

Syrian Kurdish forces now dominate wide areas of northern Syria and set up their own government there. Syria has become a patchwork of areas controlled by the government, an array of rebel groups, Islamic State militants, and Kurdish militia.

Mohammed al-Fares, the Sheikh of Tay tribe and a Parliament member and the commander of the biggest militia of NDF in Qamishli said Saturday in a statement to the Kurdish news network “RUDAW” that he was not responsible for what had happened in Qamishli, he confirmed that PYD had met with the regime on third day of clashes and a truce was reached to between both sides and cooperation has been already put in place between them.

“I do not know what other things to agree about, what happened recently is a is a disagreement between allies and that had happened many times over the years, I do not have any connection to what has happened recently”, al-Fares added.

He mentioned that the regime has protected the Kurdish Units, although they are popular forces and not official military formations, but they affiliate to the Armed Forces.
