(Zaman Al Wasl)- A child was killed in Islamic State's missile attack on a U.S.-backed militia in the southern countryside of Hasak province, activists said.
Activist Omar al-Shami said a family memebrs were killed the Isis Grad missile in Sarab village east of al-Shadadi town. Isis has also targeted several checkpoints belong to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Al-Shami said an exchange of captives took place between Isis and SDF that was mediated by local notables; 4 personnel were exchanged from each side.
The Syrian Democratic Forces, or SDF, that was founded last October, is a coalition of Kurdish, Sunni Arab and Syriac Christian fighters, but is completely dominated by its Kurdish element, which is a powerful and well organized militia known as the People's Protection Units, YPG, with an all-female branch called the Women's Defense Units, or YPJ.
Al-Shami added that a group of Isis personnel were killed in an air strike targeting a mosque on Friday in Markada, last Isis stronghold in southern Hasaka.
In another context, PYD released 100 regime personnel in exchange of tens of PYD personnel on Sunday in Qamishli, according to activist Mahmoud al-Ahmad. The exchange came in the light of the new deal signed on Sunday to resolve conflict in the city.
PYD controls major areas in Hasaka whereas regime still controls areas in surrounding of Hasaka and Qamishli. Isis still controls Markada far south of Hasaka Province.
