PYD allows 50 displaced families returning home in Hasaka province

(Zaman Al Wasl)- The Kurdish Democratic Union Party militia have allowed tens of displaced families return to their homes in al-Haul town in the eastern countryside of Hasaka, local activists said.

Mohamed al-Khatuni told Zaman al-Wasl that PYD had allowed 50 families to return to their homes after months of displacement.

Displaced families who are have any members recruited or in relation with Islamic State, al-Nusra Front or Ahrar al-Sham or Free Syrian Army were not allowed to return and their homes and property were confiscated by PYD, according to al-Khatuni.

PYD which recaptured the area from ISIS worries Isis influenced the local population whereas locals talk of PYD taking revenge in the area where many PYD personnel were killed, the area formerly under control of Arar al-Sham movement.

The Syrian Democratic Forces, or SDF, that was founded last October, is a coalition of Kurdish, Sunni Arab and Syriac Christian fighters, but is completely dominated by its Kurdish element, which is a powerful and well organized militia known as the People's Protection Units, YPG, with an all-female branch called the Women's Defense Units, or YPJ.
