Combat ISIS near Turkish border makes people's living conditions get worse

By Abdul Mounem Halabi; Translation by Yusra Ahmed

(Eqtsad)- The route between areas controlled by the Islamic State and those in North countryside of Aleppo under the Free Syrian Army’s (FSA) control is still closed amid beat and defeat battles which have intensified when the FSA controlled the town of Alraee at the boarder with Turkey, then the Islamic State recaptured it and launched frequent attacks reached to the top in May 2, when it controlled the villages of Dodan, Ekdah, Hawar Kalas, but it was forced to withdraw from those two villages after a counterattack.

Since the start of attack on the town of Alraee 3 weeks ago, all vehicles and trucks were prevented from passing through the route connecting the two areas controlled by the FSA and the Islamic State, there frequent a nominal opening of the route but without any benifit.

This closure has reflected too badly on people’s life in the Eastern region of Syrian (countryside of Aleppo, Raqqa, Deir Ezzor), as prices of food especially bread have risen sharply, amid fears of continuity of the condition as part of regional and international plans to besiege areas under the Islamic State’s control, which in turn tried to keep the boarder route open to guarantee calmness in the region and prevent the FSA from attacking Alraee town again.

Effect of closing the route via the Northern countryside of Aleppo to the Eastern region has reached to areas controlled by the Kurdish Units because that coincided with increasing limitations forced by Iraqi Kurdistan on the route between Iraq and areas under the control of the Kurdish Units, that reflected on people’s life who have been under risk of losing work and source of food.

Moreover, fears have reached to Syrian investors and traders who live in Southern Turkey especially Gaziantep city who invest millions of Dollars in the Syrian market.

Moreover, fear is prevailing in Turkish cities in South of the country, which could affect their acceptance to Syrian people. Food manufacturing has been affected earlier than expected in Gaziantep as many factories started reducing their productions.

The fast changes in the economical status in the Turkish cities reflects the overlap among the political developments, military achievements, and economical situation and security status on both sides of the Syrian-Turkish boarders which usually first reflect on civilians’ lives and increase their sufferings which no one knows when they going to end.
