(Zaman Al Wasl)- A surprising act of the Syrian regime prevented residents of the countryside of Latakia who left to the city from returning to their villages under its control.

The news of dismissing and denying access of people to their villages after leaving them when the armed conflict started in the countryside of Latakia, have been surfaced on he internet, as many facebook pages and activists mentioned that trying to know reasons behind that plan.

Zaman AL Wasl contacted many residents to know the truth, one of them Abo Mohammed, who was prevented from entering his village as officers on the barrier told him that they were implementing orders from high level.

“I have tried hard, I begged the officer, but no benefit, my lost is doubled, I have lost my people and family because they thought I was loyalist to the regime when I left the village, and now I have lost my village and house and filed”, Abo Mohammed, from Jabal al-Akrad said emotionally in quavering voice.

Abo Mohammed mentioned that regime has promised them to protect their properties and their sons from being arrested if they did not support people in their uprising. “but this regime is not trusted”, angrily said.

Samiha, a lady from the village of Salma, one of those residents who preferred leaving the countryside and refused supporting the revolution in the coastal area, was given only two hours to enter the village and see what happened to her house, and then she was forced to leave the village.

“we have nothing left, we thought it would be temporary situation and we will come back to our villages whoever the winner would be, but now we have to start our lives from scratch”, in tears, Samiha told Zaman Al Wasl her story.
Samiha and even experts are not convinced of the regime’s claims that the area is “not safe”.

many experts in the Syrian issue think that regime is working on evacuating the area from its residents to form a “sectarian canton” in the coastal area which is going to be connected to other areas to reach to Sahl Alghab in the East.

Abo Ishraq, a former head of a local council in Latakia city confirmed these suggestions, adding that regime is trying to turn the countryside of Latakia into a military area separating the coast from Idlib and Hama in order to protect the loyal villages from shelling of the armed opposition.

Abo Rashid, a military commander in the first coastal troop confirmed that regime is going to grant houses and fields to its officers who fight with it, confirming that he has seen via a spyglasses officers living in newly refurbished and furnished houses.

The Syrian regime forces have controlled the majority of Jabal al-Akrad and al-Turkmen in Latakia countryside supported by the Russian warplanes, which forced most of the residents to leave their villages toward the Turkish boarders.
