(Zaman Al-Wasl)- Palmyra Coordination Committee released a statement and footage on Sunday stating that Russia established a military base in Palmyra to second Russian Hmeimim military base in Latakia Province.
The Syrian Revolution Palmyra Coordination Committee said in the statement that Moscow defied the whole world when they established their military base in the ancient ruins of Palmyra.
The statement adds that Islamic State and Syrian regime together facilitated in giving Palmyra to the Russians to deform its civilizations. Bashar al-Assad authorized the Russians symphonic show of their muscles over the ruins and plight of the locals and city alike.
“Locals were forcibly displaced by regime and Russians bombings as well as Isis while Assad today with international sponsorship gives Russians the right to violate the property of the people of Palmyra in reward to their efforts in occupying the city and violating locals’ property.”
The Committee attached a footage to the statement showing a Russian military base surrounded by barbed wires.
The committee demands to put an end to the Russian occupation which ruined the people of Syria and their homeland.
Palmyra is a UNESCO heritage site and has seen the destruction of magnificent monuments such as the Arch of Triumph, the Temple of Baalshamin, and the Temple of Bel within the past year. (Translation by Rana Abdul)
