Syrian journalist defends selfie with dead rebel fighters despite outcry

(Zaman al-Wasl)- Syrian journalist Kinana Allouch defends her snapped selfie with dead rebel soldiers which circulated on social media on Wednesday calling it “a celebration and victory”.

Kinana Allouch a reporter of Sama TV, mouthpiece of Syrian regime, fiercely defended her selfie described as sick by many media outlets and social media users alike sparked widespread condemnation.

"A salute to the brave Syrian Arab army which succeeded in repelling an attack from armed gangs and prevailing over their attempt to infiltrate into safe areas of western Aleppo," Allouche said on Facebook, posting images of herself beaming in front of the dead rebels and posing with regime troops.

The dead bodies in the selfie were reportedly members of the Mujahedin Army, an Islamist rebel group operating in and around Aleppo city.

In a phone call with Lebanese TV presenter Tony Khalifa in his program “Wahash al-Shasha” (Screen Monster), she said “people should have looked at who is lying behind me rather than look at me. I am a human being before being a reporter and I am a Syrian citizen working with the Syrian Arab Army which has been a victim of the fighters coming from Turkey to fight in Aleppo.’

To which Tony Khalifa responded with “a selfie with dozens of corpses cannot be justified under any pretext. All religions commend respect for the dead and killed and prohibit insulting the dead.”

She defended herself talking about the “terrorist actions” in Aleppo when Tony said “most of the children and women in Aleppo were killed by regime bombing missiles and explosive barrels by regime warplanes and not only by “terrorists” bombs.”

Kinana Allouch sick behavior aligns with the regime’s behavior she defends. The regime which bombed Al-Kamuneh refugee camp in Idlib which only was a shelter for Syrians fleeing the battles to live.

Syrians witnessing this utter barbarism will not stop until they extract it from the roots
to heal from this extreme hatred. (Translation by Rana Abdul)
