In the
aftermath of the EU's decision to lift arms embargo on Syria, Italian Defense
Minister, Mario Mauro said he was "totally against any form of
intervention or complication of the Syrian crisis out of the framework of
mandate from the international institutions, particularly the UN."
"This is my message to my partners and beyond because we can't allow Syria
to explode", he said.
Mauro assured that the evidence shows using of Sarin poison , "does not justify a military intervention internationally", after only one day of confirmation that by French Foreign Minister.
Earlier, a US official told Associated Press that while France's
announcement about the proof of chemical weapons use has not been a major focus
of the discussions, it has been raised during meetings between the ministers.
US
Defense Secretary, Chuck Hagel, met with his French, British and Canadian
counterparts late on June 4 and the issue came up during that session, said the
official, who was not authorized to speak publicly. He added that the ministers
agreed to continue to monitor the situation, but did not decide on any specific
actions.
