Turkey's Justice Minister rebukes opposition member for supporting Assad

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Turkey's Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdag directed sharp and public criticism at the Republican People’s Party (CHP) MP, when the MP claimed on Tuesday during a session at the parliament the Alwaite children are being massacred in Syria, reminding the MP he is talking in front of the Turkish Parliament not Assad’s parliament.

Bozdag criticism came after Hatay MP Serkan Tubal speech on Tuesday. Bozdag asked the MP why does not he talk to the parliament about Bashar al-Assad massacres and if he would talk to Assad about them.

Bozdag added saying to the MP if he is a representative of Assad in this parliament or a representative of Hatay. The parliament is not Assad’s parliament. He continued that the Assad he is defending killed around 500,000 Syrians and used chemical weapons against civilians including children as well as forcibly displaced around 3 million Syrians who took refuge in Turkey.

Bozdag who belongs to the Justice and Development Party (AKP) angrily went on saying,” who displaced these people is Assad and every time you come out to defend him. You have to specify if you are talking in the name of the Turkish nation or in the name of Assad whose hands are stained with blood.”

Turkish opposition party CHP does not hide its loyalty to Bashar al-Assad neither its justifications of his crimes. Also, CHP does not hide its racist perspective of Syrian refugees. CHP had previously during the last parliament elections promised its voters of returning all Syrian refugees to their country.

CHP loyal stands to Bashar al-Assad are based on sectarian grounds. The party leader and many influential persons in the party are Turkish Alwaites. (Translation by Rana Abdul)
