Kurdish fighters press slow advances against ISIS south of Hasaka

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Clashes between Islamic State and Peoples’ Protection Units (PYD)-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the past two days on the front lines south of al-Shadadi strategic city in southern countryside in Hasaka province, local sources reported.

According to local sources, International Coalition air force backed SDF which advanced in al-Shamsani village after clashes with Isis killing and injuring scores.

Al-Dashisheh and al-Ulwah villages separates PYD and its allies of Markada town. The International Coalition air strikes killed civilians in al-Fadgami town and caused material damages in building. Most injured were transported to the National Hospital in Hasaka, sources told Zaman al-Wasl.

Hasaka city has also witnessed regime forces and Kurdish Asayish militia on alert.

Following hand fight in Palestine Street in the center of the city for unknown reasons, according to activist Usama Mohamed.

The activist said hundreds of regime forces personnel spread on Friday and Saturday in the main square near the Justice Palace and Filistin Street and al-Hall Market near al-Hajaneh Barracks. All these points are considered clashes points with PYD militias.

Fear of renewing clashes pushed locals to flee Filistin Street.

Clashes between regime forces and Kurdish Asayish militia erupted on Monday in Hasaka city over competing to guard a 9 grade exam center killing and injuring dozens of both sides in addition to civilians victims.

Regime, PYD and Islamic State control Hasaka province. PYD controls the biggest area while regime controls security points and military divisions in the surrounding of Hasaka and Qamishli cities. On the other hand, Isis controls Markada town in the farthest south of the province.
