Assad security arrested two young activists in Jaramana near Damascus
Maram Dawood, member of the National Coordination Body and the Syrian Medical Committee, was detained by the Syrian authorities from the Jaramana checkpoint on Friday 13/09/2013 along with his friend Khaldoun Nithami - an IT university student, Syrian Watchdog said.
Maram is an Economy student
born in the Salamiya city of Hama in 1989. Maram coordinated and participated
in several relief campaigns for internally displaced Syrians, the Britain-based
Human Rights Observatory said.
Dawood participated and organized several workshops
aimed at building a Syrian civil society. Maram is a youth activist and an
anti-war campaigner of peace who took part in several campaigns demanding the
release of prisoners, the kidnapped and the hostages of the ongoing conflict.
The Syrian Observatory for
Human Rights condemns in a statement such violations against the Syrian youth
and the peaceful activists and demands the immediate release of Maram Dawood,
Khaldoum Nithami and all political detainees in the regime's prisons and
detention centres. The SOHR also holds the Syrian authorities complete
responsibility over the well-being and safety of Maram and Khaldoun.
