(Eqtsad)- Syrian people who live in besieged areas are suffer huge amount of pressure and stress that have turned into social and family arguments reach to the level of complete break up in relationships.

There are uncountable stories to tell about the effect of siege on social relationship, when even tiny matter could initiate life-long disagreement and breakup.

Jaber, 30, tells the story of his brother and how his addiction to smoking caused separation between his father and mother.

“I have a brother, 20 years old, started smoking since young age, before the siege, smoking as easily affordable, but after the siege, the prices have risen too much and one box of cigarette reached to 500 SYP, and my father was very strict in giving his money for smoking”, Jaber started the story.

Jaber continued explaining that his mother used to feel pity for her young son, and gave him money to by cigarettes, but with time and with increase prices for everything, my father started to fed up with my mother's support to my son, and arguments started and then hardly a day passed without hearing them fighting.
The surprise was that in the end, his father and mother separated and his father left the house for his mother and two sisters.

“So, cigarettes have destroyed our family, but in reality it is not smoking, it is the siege which make life hard” added.

Another story from Rim, 16 years old, said that her father had become outraged after the siege and kept shouting to her mother for any reason even in the presence of guest, even some times our neighbours interfered to stop the troubles between them.
Rim gave excuse to her father, as he always feels hungry and even after finishing dinner, and when supper time comes, he find nothing to eat apart from soup for rice and bulger.

However, the weirdest reason for argument between newly married couple was a bunch of salt.

The story started when a neighbour requested a bunch of salt from the man, Mohammed to use it in cooking wheat he was able to provide. Later the wife wanted to cook potatoes, she prepared everything, but when she went to the place where she left the last bunch of salt, she found nothing, which annoyed her a lot and the argument started between her and her husband, and continued for two days of complete silence between them .

Mohammed commented: ‘definitely the reason is not the bunch or salt,as it is the top of the icebergs, where hunger, poverty, lack of all essential living conditions, play their role in affecting people’s ability to cope with unexpected matter, however they are tinny.
