People of coastal cities fear new blasts

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Military Security branch in Latakia city ordered Jableh National Hospital to establish tents to condolence the casualties killed in Jableh explosions last Monday.

The hospital in turn ordered employees to come to the tents since some of the hospital staff were killed in the two explosions which targeted the hospital last week. However, tents remained empty on Saturday for mourners feared a new series of explosions, according to a doctor in the hospital.

Latakia Media Network correspondent Mohamed al-Sahili reported the administration of the hospital did not dare to establish tents to receive condolences in the first days following the explosion, but it was forced to by orders of military security branch in Latakia city.

Al-Sahili added that despite the resume of work at the hospital in the third day after the explosions, the tents were established on Saturday. But city population did not care much and did not come to the tents probably for fear of a new explosion.

The case was similar in Tartus city where tents were empty of mourners except for relatives of the causalities.

Khalid S from Jableh city considered the explosions are a message from the regime to his supporters hinting that the regime is the perpetrator of the explosions. He explained that this series of explosions might be followed by other explosion since the regime will put more pressure to push young men to fight in its ranks what regime calls “terrorists” or “terrorists” will come to them meaning to kill in the Syrian coast.

He pointed out the regime achieved his goal through the explosions and that is pushing regime supporters in the Syrian coast to react on the displaced Syrians there to prepare them for another round of explosions the regime might be planning. That’s why people refrain from grouping or even offering condolences.

Over 100 people were killed by seven blasts targeted several locations in the coastal towns of Jableh and Tartus, Syria’s Latakia province. The locations are close to two Russian military facilities: the Hmeimim airbase and the Tartus naval base. (Translation by Rana Abdul)
