(Zaman Al Wasl)- The general commander of the Sultn Murad brigade Fahim Issa, which is one of the Free Syrian Army factions working in northern Syria, accused the American administration of working to keep the fighting going in Syria and starting a long term war in the region with the plan of tearing up the region through their insistence on supporting the People’s Protection Units (YPG) to divide up Syria in support of Israel.
On Saturday, the US department of State made an announcement that it believes there is no relationship between the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) which is on the American terrorism list. Issa clarified that “this announcement is suitable for American but for us as the Sultan Murad brigade we conclude that the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) is a continuation of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) which is on the international terrorism list.”
In an exclusive interview with Zaman al-Wasl, Issa indicated, “there is no problem with the contradiction in the American stand between the declarations of the Secretary of Defense and the spokesperson for the Department of State because they know they are strong.” He reminded us of the Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter’s admission during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing in congress on 28 April 2016, that there is a strong relationship between the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and its military wing the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) which is on the terrorist list in Turkey and the United States.
The general commander of the Sultan Murad brigade clarified, “America insists on supporting the YPG to complete the Kurdish state project in northern Syria, and we as a free army are present to sabotage this plan and defend our land, and we will not give up on our rights whatever the price.” He added, “we are paying a high price and we will continue to pay a high price, and we hope there will be future changes in international stands.”
Issa has also revealed that the American administration is in league with the Islamic State, and it is tricking the Free Syrian Army as he said, “Through our dealings with the Americans we feel there are dealings between the Americans and ISIS. This is not just defamation as we have touched on the issue more than once when they promise us with air coverage and we then find ourselves exhausted in battle and they do not make even one air strike.”
He continued, “they plant agents at the head of the ISIS pyramid, and this way their plans are executed, so when they want ISIS to fight fierce battles it happens, and when they ask it to hand over other areas to YPG similar to what occurred in eastern Aleppo it happens, and because we are in a weak position we are forced to deal with them due to the lack of a second option to defend our land.”
He continues, “of course America supports the YPG more than the Free Syrian Army in fighting ISIS, because it looks at us the Muslim Free Army and does not distinguish us from ISIS, and the American administration does not care about YPG, it is supporting it to maintain Israel’s security and it has no advantage in supporting a side that might pose a threat to Israel. I believe America will not give up on the Kurdish card because it is a pressure card for those who pose a threat to Israel such as Turkey, Syria, or Iraq, and because the project to divide up Syria the American interests met with the YPG’s interests.”
Issa said that “the American insistence on supporting the YPG is the prelude for a project to divide up Syria, because the division is in the interests of Israel, and the second advantage coming from their support is finding a scarecrow against Turkey as if it manages to create a Kurdish state in northern Syria, this will not be in the interests of Turkey nor will Turkey like it for fear its Kurds will want the same, and this way America will have terrorized Turkey to weaken it and threaten it with division because Turkey is a Muslim country which may at any point in time pose a big threat to Israel if the situation in Syria stabilized and its people and land were reunited. As such the Americans are not interested in the Kurds’ interest but through the Kurdish PYD it guarantees Israel’s interests and based on this principle the Americans work on tearing up Syria, Iraq and Turkey.”
Regarding the possibility of confronting ISIS, the military commander confirmed that “the Free Syrian Army can face two enemies but it is facing 3 enemies which are the regime and the sectarian militias supporting it, ISIS, and the PYD, but we are aware that the American administration works for the safety of Israel and this is by dividing up the region and starting a long term war so they found the Kurds of the PYD to facilitate this project taking advantage of the current circumstances in Syria.”
