(Zaman al-Wasl)- Syrian regime's Endowment Minister distributed copies of the Holy Quran to families of casualties killed in Jableh, and Tartus blasts last week.
The Syrian regime had previously distributed goat, chicken, and other products for families of the casualties; however, the religious minister gifts of Quran was criticized secretly by families of casualties.
Observers considered the distribution of Quran copies came to avoid possible criticism to regime gifts to the families of the casualties since the gift of the Quran will silence them or at least would not provoke a negative response.
Still, the sanctity of the Quran did not prevent father of casualty Basel Naous from al-Sheikh Bader village in Tartus from rejecting the gift from the religious minister Abdul Satar al-Sayed. The father said to the minister, “do you want us to become Islamic State members? Keep your Quran to your group of Islamists.”
Alaa Mohamed from Tartus attribute regime symbolic gifts to its financial suffering and lack of funding.
Economist Mostafa al-Ahmad said the financial bloc is concentrated in several individuals close to Assad. The finances are put to serve the economy or pay compensations to the regime casualties. They are only used to boost the military power of the regime via buying weapons and mercenaries to fight in regime ranks.
Regime religious minister have visited Tartus, Jableh and some villages on Friday and Saturday to offer condolences to the families of the casualties killed in blasts last week in which more than 300 were killed according to non-official statistics.
Latakia Media Network correspondent Mostafa al-Banyasi reported that the gift of al-Sayed to the families of deceased did not satisfy them although most did not express their feelings.
He confirmed that sibling of one of the deceased, an officer in Assad army, refused to receive the minister in the condolences tent in Tartus after he knew what the gift was. He told minister guards to take him to his brother’s grave to recite Quran as he wants there.
Families of regime casualties have expressed resentment before regarding the gifts and compensations offered by the regime on their media pages which reached public insults.
