Provinces, Aug. 24 (SANA) Two people died and 17 others were injured in traffic accidents and fires that Civil Defense teams of the Emergency and Disaster Management Ministry responded to across Syria over the past 24 hours.
Civil Defense said on Telegram Monday that 15 traffic accidents resulted in two deaths and 16 civilian injuries. Teams provided first aid, transported the injured to hospitals, cleared the aftermath and secured the sites.
Civil Defense teams also responded to 124 fires, including five in fields and agricultural crops and 119 involving homes, shops, grass, trees, garbage and electrical wires.
The teams extinguished the fires and cooled the sites. One civilian was injured and received first aid, while other damage was limited to property.
Separately, Civil Defense teams in Lattakia extinguished a fire Monday at al-Jazeera Bakery Complex on al-Jumhuriya Street, injuring three people, including two who suffered smoke inhalation and one with a foot injury.
Civil Defense urged the public not to light fires in forests or agricultural fields, throw cigarette butts or glass containers along roadsides near crops or forests, or burn dry grass around homes and roads.
Two people also died and 21 others were injured Saturday in fires and traffic accidents across Syrian provinces.
