Fail of former opposition govt. undermines new PM plans

Translation by Yusra Ahmed

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Opinions contradicted about the step of forming a interim government inside Syria headed by Dr. Jawad Abu Hatab, who was recently elected following Ahmed Tomeh.

The governor of liberated idlib, Bilal Jbairo in his talk to Zaman Al Wasl, described statements of the Dr. Abu Hatab after becoming the new Head of the Interim government as “positive” in regard to the activity and strategy of work of the government inside Syria, but he considered that step has come late after 3 year of inactivity of the government headed by Ahmed Tomeh.

The new head of the government told Zaman AL Wasl in previous statement that the government would be formed of experts from inside Syria.

Jbairo thinks that the most important component for successful government in future is its credibility on ground especially the new head, besides his ability to find channels of communications with the military formation on ground especially effective ones to be able to convince them about the new projects and strategies.

However, the negative attitude toward the former government of Tomeh inside Syria might be an obstacle for the success of the new government, according to Jbairo, who finds that the acceptance and support by the sponsoring and supporting country would be crucial in empowering the government inside the country by new projects for people who are in very much need for all sort of help.

In regard to cooperation and participation in ruling areas under the armed opposition control, Jbairo thinks that many armed formations could accept participation, but it is up to the government to accept, and that depends on the character of the leader who needs to have experience and vision and able to heal people’s pain and bring them together.

An activist from Idlib spoke on condition of anonymity considered that it would be a red line for the government to try to withdraw the power of the armed formations especially over the security and justice.

He thinks that if the military formations not on terrorism list have conditioned on the government to have representatives within it to facilitate delivering services would be beneficial for both sides.

Abo Yusuf al-Mohajer, the spokesman of Ahrar al-Sham movement did not comment on the Abu Hatab comments in regard to establishing an interim government, as the movement has not announced any attitude toward that yet.
In the same time, a source close to Nusra Front talked to Zaman Al Wasl on condition of anonymity explained that the Front would not accept any civil or military body on Idlib apart of Jaish al-Fateh.

Prior to Nusra Front an Ahrar al-Sham statements, commander in jaish al-Fateh declared that the Jaish would not have the most powerful arm in civil aspect in Idlib.
