Homs: rebels reuse unexploded missiles fired by regime

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Zaman al-Wasl obtained special photos showing missiles, bombs and artillery shells fıred by regime warplanes and artillery on villages and towns in Homs northern countryside and Hama southern countryside; however, these bombs and shell did not explode, sources said.

According to Free Syrian Army (FSA) military sources, the weight of the missiles and directed bombs reached between 250-1000 kg.

General Engineer Abu Nedal, the head of military council in Kafar laha city told Zaman al-Wasl, the biggest of these missiles is one that has been fired by a warplane on western al-Tayba village on Tuesday and did not explode.

He added, the length of the missile is 3 meters and basically it is a reserve fuel storage for an out of service warplane. The regime Scientific Research factories turned the storage into a huge missile that can contain more than half a ton of explosives which can destroy a whole residential neighborhood.

Al-Houleh town as well as villages of Aqrab and Kharbet al-Jaame in southern Hama countryside were exposed to more than 60 air strikes; many of the missiles and barrel bombs dropped did not explode due to a technical failure, Abu Nedal indicated.

The Head of military council confirmed the existence of technician teams at the military councils and at Ahrar al-Sham movement specialized in disintegrating missiles. They get the missiles and directly remove the detonator which makes the explosion. They then transport it to a blacksmith to cut the body of the missile or bomb.

They remove T.N.T material to be manufacture it again locally to be used against regime forces and its sectarian militia. (Translation by Rana Abdul)
