Prominent FSA commander killed in ISIS suicide attack: opposition

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Colonel Bakkour al-Salim, commander of Alweyat al-Shahid Ahmed al-Abdo, was killed on Thursday when an ISIS suicide bomber detonated his explosive belt in the rebel group's headquarters east of Damascus.

Al-Salim was a member in the High Negotiations Committee and one of the first army defectors who joined the Syrian revolution against Bashar al-Assad.

The Saudi-backed opposition mourned al-Salim as Khaled al-Khoja, former head of the Syrian National Coalition.

Alweyat al-Shahid Ahmed al-Abdo is a key unit in the Free Syrian Army, operating in the Eastern Qalamoun region.

The group has no Islamic agenda and most of the fighters are army defectors.
